EVERYONE is welcome and affirmed at Unity of Springfield

Unity teaches that all people are created with sacred worth and that no one exists outside the heart of God. Its basic principles state that God is Good, and because all people exist within God, they also are inherently good. We are an LGBTQ affirming and supportive spiritual community. Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Queer/Questioning people serve at all levels of leadership.  Both in our movement and at our local center.

Unity of Springfield has long supported the marriage commitments of the LGBTQ+ community.  We offer full, legal wedding support for any couple that seeks it.  All our ministers are available to officiate same-sex and same-gender wedding ceremonies.  For more information contact

It Includes raw, powerful stories from the LGBTQ community—including Unity ministers and others who identify as gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, and queer or questioning.

  • Coming to Terms
  • Healing from Religion
  • Creating Families
  • Transforming Gender
  • Knowing My Worth

These stories of healing—of never giving up the search for spiritual understanding and self-acceptance—have endings that are not simply happy but full of gratitude and love.

Unity Leaves No One Out

Unity extends an explicit invitation to members of the LGBTQ+ community, who we know have often been rejected by spiritual communities because of who they are or who they love. Through prayer, publishing, and community outreach, we are committed to respecting the dignity of every human being—and that includes their gender identity/expression.
