Julia White and De DeArmon are the co-directors of the Junior Sunday School. Julia is the organizing force behind the Junior Sunday School, and ensures that all needed materials are supplied for annual events such as the Easter Egg Hunt, our version of Vacation Bible School called "Spirit Explorers," Back-to-School Supply Drive, Spooktrunkular (Halloween fun!), Parents Day Out (before Christmas so parents can shop!), and Christmas Caroling at Manor Care. De is seen most often leading the children in music when they join the adults at the end of the 11 am Sunday service. De also takes an active role in taking care of the church grounds, including the Meditation Garden, the patio outside of Fellowship Hall, and the raised beds in front of the Teen House. Since 2013, the Junior Sunday School kids have gotten to plant their own vegetables and strawberries, which they later harvest and share with the congregation.
THE YOUTH DEPARTMENT
Alice Merrifield is the Nursery Director. Primarily for children ages 0-3, the Nursery is open during both Sunday services, and some special events held at Unity of Springfield. Parents/Guardians must check children in and out. Call the office during regular business hours to inquire about the availability of child care for any special event.
JUNIOR SUNDAY SCHOOL (JSS)
The JSS is for children from age 3 (potty-trained) through 6th grade, and it's open during both Sunday services held at Unity of Springfield on Sunday mornings, at 9:15 and 11 am. Parents/Guardians must check their children in and out. The curriculum is overseen by the Spiritual Leader of Unity of Springfield.
